Week 16 Picks

Thursday Night Football
Carolina +14 at Pittsburgh
Mike: CAR. Something to root for tonight.
Joe: CAR
Final: PIT by 24 (J0-1, M0-1) This was what we thought it was, just more of a blowout.

Christmas Night Football
Dallas -7 at Arizona
Mike: DAL. Good thing NBA's James doesn't play football. He'd have protested playing tonight.
Joe: DAL. I made this pick Sunday morning but if I had made it Saturday night it would have been for the Cowboys. Oops. And don't pretend you know about basketball, Mike.
Final: ARI by 1 (J0-2, M0-2) Pretty sure no one watched this game.

Sunday Football:
Detroit +4 at Miami
Mike: MIA
Joe: DET. Finally using the 1-6 home and 6-1 road record for the Dolphins to my advantage.
Final: DET by 7 (J1-2, M0-3) If the Dolphins win on the road next week, it will be the most remarkable/weirdest home/road split for an 8-8 record ever.

Washington +6.5 at Jacksonville
Mike: JAX
Joe: WAS. Sexy Rexy. Seriously. I went there. Plus no MJD makes it a FG game at the end.
Final: WAS by 3 (J2-2, M0-4) Jacksonville can back into the playoffs next week with a win and an Indy loss but that won't happen. Way to blow it to the most dysfunctional NFL team this season.

San Francisco +2.5 at St Louis
Mike: STL
Joe: STL. Sam Bradford is taking this team to the playoffs. Good for Steven Jackson.
Final: STL by 8 (J3-2, M1-4) And Singletary is no longer employed.

Seattle +6 at Tampa Bay
Mike: TB
Joe: TB. Can't believe TB can still make the playoffs. Loss last week to the Lions really hurt. Guessing this is how the Browns season goes next year.
Final: TB by 23 (J4-2, M2-4) Seattle played this game with absolutely no meaning. Next Sunday night is the showdown for the NFC West with the Rams.

New England -7.5 at Buffalo
Mike: NE
Joe: NE. New England keeps steam rolling to the playoffs. I heard this week QB Fitzpatrick's nickname is the Amish Rifle because of his beard. I really should pick them just for that, but I can't.
Final: NE by 31 (J5-2, M3-4) Tom Brady is amazing. Right now the only thing that looks like it could stop the Pats are the Pats themselves (or the bye week).

NY Jets +2.5 at Chicago
Mike: CHI
Joe: CHI. Shocking pick here as I go against the Jets. I dislike them from my head all the way to Rex Ryan's feet. (as mandated by law, there was the foot fetish reference)
Final: CHI by 4 (J6-2, M4-4) So nice to see the Jets lose and that GREAT D demolished by Cutler, Knox, Hester, and Forte.

Baltimore -3 at Cleveland
Mike: BAL
Joe: CLE. Shocking pick here as I go with the Browns. I still see a heartbreaking loss somehow but with a cover.
Final: BAL by 10 (J6-3, M5-4) I welcome Gruden with open arms next season. Free the Colt!!!

Tennessee +4 at Kansas City
Mike: KC
Joe: KC. Or maybe the Browns season will go like this KC season. Keep Hope Alive.
Final: KC by 20 (J7-3, M6-4) Guess we have found out that Weis and Crennel are actually good coordinators but terrible Head Coaches.

Indianapolis -1.5 at Oakland
Mike: OAK
Joe: IND. Peyton can smell the playoffs.
Final: IND by 5 (J8-3, M6-5) One more win for Indy next week and they are back in the playoffs. Wish I knew that feeling.

Houston -2.5 at Denver
Mike: HOU
Joe: HOU. Just for the fun of rooting against Tebow.
Final: DEN by 1 (J8-4, M6-6) Guess I shouldn't root against Tebow on Sundays.

NY Giants +3 at Green Bay
Mike: NYG
Joe: GB. Aaron Rodgers does a great Favre impersonation in this game.
Final: GB by 28 (J9-4, M6-7) Favre should try to impersonate Rodgers after his 400+ yards.

San Diego -8 at Cincinnati
Mike: SD
Joe: SD. The Chargers win but still sit outside the playoffs.
Final: CIN by 14 (J9-5, M6-8) So much for Rivers for MVP. Still not enough for me to say something nice about the Bengals.

Monday Night Football
New Orleans +2 at Atlanta
Mike: ATL
Joe: ATL. I don't remember Mike picking against the Saints for a long, long time. Bodes well for Atlanta.
Final: NO by 3 (J9-6, M6-9) Road to Super Bowl will still go through Atlanta.

Tuesday Night Football
Minnesota +14 at Philadelphia
Mike: MIN
Joe: PHI. The extra two days of rest (game postponed from Sunday to Tuesday) will get Favre back in the lineup. This year that's not a good thing.
Final: MIN by 10 (J9-7, M7-9) If only I knew Joe Webb would be starting, that would have changed my pick totally.

Overall Standings
Joe: 121-113
Mike: 122-112

Week 15 Picks

Thursday Night Football
San Francisco +9.5 at San Diego
Mike: SD. Yeah, I think it'll be a blowout.
Joe: SD. To show his support, Joe will be Charging his drinks at the Bricktown Christmas party.
Final: SD by 27 (J1-0, M1-0) What's sad is that if San Fran wins its last two games to finish 7-9, they host a first round playoff game. Meanwhile, if San Diego wins its last two games to finish 10-6, they could miss the playoffs.

Sunday
Kansas City -1 at St Louis
Mike: KC. The world-famous Battle of I-70 continues. The Chiefs need the win more so I'll go with them.
Joe: STL. Sam Bradford still has his appendix, I believe that's the difference.
Final: KC by 14 (J1-1, M2-0) Goes to show how useless an appendix is.

Houston +1 at Tennessee
Mike: TEN. This is a tough one. I'm going with the Titans simply because it's going to be cold and outdoors.
Joe: HOU. Johnson V Innegan II. Remember Cortland got the 'F' knocked out of him the first time.
Final: TEN by 14 (J1-2, M3-0) Honestly, I didn't see one highlight from this game and could not care less. The Titans went up 21-0 in the 1st quarter, the game should have ended there.

Jacksonville +5 at Indianapolis
Mike: JAX. The Colts continue to struggle with their lack of weapons. Oh, boo hoo, you teams whining about lack of weapons and injuries. Man up and be happy with your six wins a year like us Browns fans.
Joe: IND. That playoff mountain is hard to climb but Peyton has done it before and he will do it again. This seems like too high of a line, but F it.
Final: IND by 10 (J2-2, M3-1) And thanks to a terrible onside kick the Colts cover the spread. That's two crazy non-cover and cover games for the Colts. Watch out for them the rest of the year.

Arizona +2.5 at Carolina
Mike: ARI. This is hilarious. The Cardinals are so bad, have fallen so far, that they're underdogs to the 1-12 Panthers. I'm not buying into this Jimmy Clausen hype.
Joe: ARI. Thing is Arizona can still win the division. This is a good start.
Final: CAR by 7 (J2-3, M3-2) Again, not a ratings bonanza here. Other than FGs the scoring consisted of Clausen to Jeff King for 16 yards and a recovered fumble in the endzone by the Cards. I would rather watch the Browns 10000000x than this.

Cleveland +1 at Cincinnati
Mike: CLE. Entering the season, I wrote that I'd be pleasantly shocked with an 8-8 season for the Browns. A 6-10 season is more likely and it'll take a win at Riverfront to make it happen. Don't get it in your heads that Colt McCoy is ready to beat playoff bound Steelers and Ravens -- but man, it sure would be awesome.
Joe: CLE. Colt McCoy (pow-pow, bang-bang) won't have to do too much today. Leave that to Pick-6 Palmer.
Final: CIN by 2 (J2-4, M3-3) Mike, please start picking against the Browns again. I think they know when you pick them and then they suck. Once again, great opening drive and no adjustments for the rest of the game. McCoy looked above average in the cold and wind throwing for almost 250 yards and 2 TDs. More importantly no TOs. The D gets most of the blame here allowing almost 200 yards rushing and registering 1 hit on Carson Palmer for the game that really no one remembers. Everyone get your Gruden gear ready, he will be here by February.

Buffalo +6 at Miami
Mike: BUF. I've often reminded Joe that Wins are Wins. That doesn't mean that a team with a better record is the better team though. This is a good example of that. The Bills have played better than their record while the Dolphins certainly aren't as good as theirs. Oh, and the Dolphins are 1-5 at home. How's that happen?
Joe: MIA. Wins are not Wins, and I will prove it again with this pick. Just like last time I'm sure it will work in my favor.
Final: BUF by 3 (J2-5, M4-3) In all seriousness, this is LeBron's fault. He has ruined Miami and now I will never pick them again.

Philadelphia +3 at NY Giants
Mike: PHI. This is the Varsity game of NFC East week and the Eagles will spoil
homecoming for the Giants. (Although Eli can still wear his crown, if he wants.)
Joe: PHI. Too many Eli TOs, killing the Giants chances. Vick is solid but so is the NY D (and PD).
Final: PHI by 7 (J3-5, M5-3)

Washington +6 at Dallas
Mike: DAL. And this is the JV game. The Redskins are a team that have come undone. The local radio shows are blasting the Shanahans, Daniel Snyder ... and defending Donovan McNabb. It's amazing. I don't get it. D-Nabb isn't getting younger, he isn't getting faster, he isn't getting better. He's getting older, slower and worser. Next year will be worse than this one.
Joe: DAL. So McNabb is aging in Delhomme(s). I think maybe that should be the measuring stick. Still rather have Kitna. Remember he's a top 15 QB this week.
Final: DAL by 3 (J3-6, 5-4)

Detroit +5.5 at Tampa Bay
Mike: TB. What the heck happened to Jahvid Best? Remember his hot start, scoring 5 TDs in the first 3 games? He hasn't scored since. Right when I think the Lions are on the verge of improving, they prove me wrong. Long live the Lions.
Joe: TB. Yeah, he got hurt. Not the Best. Anywho, TB will become one step closer to losing in the 1st round of the playoffs.
Final: DET by 3 (J3-7, M5-5)

New Orleans +1.5 at Baltimore
Mike: NO. The Saints are on a roll, winning their last five in a row. This will certainly be a tough game at Baltimore, what with them facing a knife-wielding murderer and a frenzied drunk-driving pedestrian-killer.
Joe: BAL. Just picking them because that very judging of you. Have we not sinned?? Who hasn't cut someone up before or accidentally ran some Amish guy over on some township road at 3am on the way home from the bar??? WHO????
Final: BAL by 6 (J4-7, M5-6)

Atlanta -6.5 at Seattle
Mike: ATL. If he played on the other team this week, he'd be called Matty Rain. And he'd still be a winner.
Joe: ATL. That's what he's called on Fridays when visiting the local Pole Dancing Association.
Final: ATL by 16 (J5-7, M6-6)

NY Jets +5.5 at Pittsburgh
Mike: PIT. This will be a really tough pick for little brother. Who do you hate more? The team you grew up hating or the team you just recently started hating?
Joe: NYJ. My lifelong hatred for Pittsburgh overcomes this season's rage against the Jets. This is a lose-lose situation for me, well unless the Jets cover. But still, you get the idea.
Final: NYJ by 5 (J6-7, M6-7)

Denver +6.5 at Oakland
Mike: DEN. This is a pick that I reserve the right to change. If Tim Tebow starts, well, how can you bet against him -- and JESUS. But if he doesn't start, then I'll go with the Raiders, so this pick might change at gametime. (Update: Tebow starts. They both get the win.)
Joe: OAK. WTF?? Pick Changing?? This will not go well for Tebow or Jesus.
Final: OAK by 16 (J7-7, M6-8)

Green Bay +9 at New England
Mike: NE. Is it possible that the Patriots' loss to Cleveland was a wakeup call? Since that game, New England has won 5 straight by an average score of 39-14. Your 2012 Super Bowl game: Patriots-Eagles.
Joe: NE. Matty Snowflake Flynn doesn't quite matchup with Tom Brady or his hair.
Final: NE by 4 (J7-8, M6-9)

Monday
Chicago +1.5 at Minnesota
Mike: CHI. This must be a misprint. If Favre can't play, the Vikings are screwed. Correction: The Vikings are screwed.
Joe: CHI. Starting at QB, JOE WEBB!!!!!!! Ladies and Gentlemen your 2010-2011 Minnesota Vikings!
Final: CHI big. (J8-8, M7-9)

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Week 14 Picks

Updated Standings:
Joe: 97-90 (.519)
Mike: 100-87 (.535)

Thursday Night Football
Indianapolis -3 @ Tennessee
Mike: IND. Peyton might throw a pair of TAINTS tonight and the Colts would still handle the spiraling Titans.
Joe: IND.
Final: Indy by 2 (J0-1, M0-1) Amazingly terrible cover for the Titans. A TD w no time left and the picks are off to a great start in week 14.

Wrote these down on my bar tab: Buf, Pitt, Oak, GB, Wash, Atl

Oakland +4 @ Jacksonville
Joe: JAX. Because I love me some MJD.
Mike: I always pick Oakland
Final: Jax by 7 (J1-1, M0-2) Maybe the game of the day. MJD, as I expected, with a TD run with under a minute to go to win it for the Jags. Here is your surprise playoff team in the AFC this season.

Cincinnati +8.5 @ Pittsburgh
Joe: PIT. Because the Bengals have given up.
Mike: PIT. Because I never pick Cincinnati.
Final: Pit by 16 (J2-1, M1-2) Palmer with 2 more pick 6's sets up what could be an amazing duel between himself and Delhomme. Not sure what time I would have to start drinking to watch that but it would be early. Please God heal Colt's ankle!!!!!!

New England -3 @ Chicago
Joe: NE. Because the Pats find a way to win.
Mike: NE. Yeah, gotta go with the Pats, even at Soldier.
Final: NE by 29 (J3-1, M2-2) What a beat down. Brady won the MVP the last 2 weeks. That's 19 TDs vs 0 INTs over his last 8 games. And still married to Giselle.

Cleveland Even @ Buffalo
Joe: Cle. Because I'm a homer.
Mike: BUF. Because I'm a realist.
Final: BUF by 7 (J3-2, M3-2) This one really hurt the Mangini camp. Game planning and in-game adjustments were nowhere to be found again, which is kind of important to coaching. A loss to the Bengals next week could light that hot seat on fire.

Green Bay -7 @ Detroit
Joe: GB. Because Drew Stanton is the Lions QB and Aaron Rodgers is the Packers.
Mike: GB. Those are good reasons.
Final: DET by 4 (J3-3, M3-3) Not fair. Green Bay better hope Rodgers isn't out long or there will be no playoffs for the Pack.

Atlanta -7.5 @ Carolina
Joe: Atl. Because I don't know who is QB for the Panthers anymore.
Mike: ATL. It's either Tony Pike, Jimmy Clausen, Matt Moore or Vinnie Testaverde.
Final: ATL by 21 (J4-3, M4-3) It was Clausen and he wasn't good. Start planning for that Harbaugh/Luck combo next year in Carolina.

Tampa Bay -1 @ Washington
Joe: Was. Because that was embarrassing last week.
Mike: WAS. Because I thought you'd pick Tampa.
Final: TB by 1 (J4-3, M4-3) 2 missed short FGs and a dropped XP to tie the game, I'd rather watch the Delhomme/Palmer bowl every week than be a Redskins fan.

St. Louis +9 @ New Orleans
Joe: StL. Because I love Sam Bradford.
Mike: NO. That's how I know you're gay.
Final: NO by 18 (J4-4, M5-3) The Saints are rolling but the Rams will still win the awful NFC West.

Seattle +5 @ San Francisco
Joe: SF. Because Pete Carroll can't win in the NFL.
Mike: SEA. Because Troy Smith should be at quarterback.
Final: SF by 19 (J5-4, M5-4) Maybe if Troy was QB Seattle would have covered. Probably not.

Miami +5.5 @ New York Jets
Joe: NYJ. Because I'm not stupid.
Mike: NYJ. Yeah, you're a genius.
Final: MIA by 4 (J5-5, M5-5) Sure the one week I pick the Jets they couldn't suck more. Just add it to the reasons I hate them. Miss the playoffs Jets, MISS THEM!!!!!!!

Denver -4 @ Arizona
Joe: Den. Because John Skelton is starting QB in this game.
Mike: DEN. You talked me into it. Is that legal?
Final: ARI by 30 (J5-6, M5-6) Skelton was not the issue, JAY FEELY scored the first 22 points for the Cardinals. Yes, that's the kicker. Ouch Denver, very ouch. And Tebow still won't get to play.

Kansas City +10 @ San Diego
Joe: KC. Because I believe in Brodie Croyle, ok maybe Jamaal Charles.
Mike: SD. Chargers always bounce back just in time.
Final: SD by 31 (J5-7, M6-6) Croyle quickly became one of the few players I would choose after Jake Delhomme. A game he missed should get Matt Cassel some MVP votes.

Philadelphia -3.5 @ Dallas
Joe: Dal. Because Jon Kitna is sadly one of the top 15 QBs in the league.
Mike: PHI. That is the most ridiculous statement you've made this season.
Final: PHI by 3 (J6-7, M6-7) Since I'm not going to do research, here is who I would take Kitna over for my teams QB (just for this year): Skelton/DA, the SF Smiths, Brodie Croyle, Delhomme, Clausen, Huge Bust Henne, Carson Palmer, Kerry Collins/Rusty Smith, Matt Flynn, Drew Stanton, Tarvaris Jackson and those are just starters this week. I would also consider it a push, again for this year only, with Fitzpatrick, McNabb, Schaub, Sanchez, Campbell, Hasselbeck, and Orton. That's 18 bad QBs. Which by my count puts Kitna near the top 15. And he still isn't good. Plus I'm sure I could find a more ridiculous statement I have made.

Baltimore -3 @ Houston
Joe: Bal. Because the Texans defense is terrible.
Mike: Bal. Yeah, that was easy.
Final: BAL by 6 (J7-7, M7-7) Thank God for OT TD covers. And just because Schaub threw for almost 400 yds and 3 TDs, he doesn't get off my crappy QB list for this season. Leinert could put up numbers in that offense too.

New York Giants NO LINE @ Minnesote (Played in Hell)
Joe: Min. Because God is giving Brett Favre time to heal.
Mike: NYG. Yeah, if that's not divine intervention, nothing is.
Final: NYG by 18 (J7-8, M8-7) I feel like this game shouldn't count. Favre feels that way too. Do people still think Tarvaris would have been better than grey beard??

Week 14 Standings
Joe: 104-98
Mike: 108-94

Thursday, December 2, 2010

Week 13 Picks

Updated Standings:
Joe: 90-81 (.526)
Mike: 87-84 (.508)

Thursday Night Foosball:
Houston +8 at Philadelphia
Mike: HOU. Which game will score higher in the ratings? Thursday night NFL Football or the return of Mr James to Cleveland in Thursday night NBA Basketball?
Joe: Phi. Philly literally runs away with this one. Houston doesn't have a fighting chance. And the LeQuitter return will record waaaaaaaaaaaaay higher ratings.
Final: PHI by 10. (J1-0, M0-1) Texans blow a 4th qtr lead and my pick. Thanks, Schaub. And you were right about the ratings.

Sunday Football
Buffalo +5.5 at Minnesota
Mike: MIN. The Bills always seem to be close and then blow it at the end. The Vikings are rejuvinated with their new head coach and coast to a win.
Joe: MIN. Minnesota at home still isn't bad, while Favre in your home is kinda uncomfortable.
Final: MIN big. (J2-0, M1-1). Vikings prove they can win with Tavaras throwing the picks.

Cleveland +5 at Miami
Mike: CLE. I'm somewhat confident that the Browns won't even need the points. Well, then again, Jake will gift wrap at least 6 to the Dolphins so the 5 points is a nice cushion.
Joe: CLE. Gotta take the points. Peyton Hillis will get another 3 TDs but Jake will again make mistakes as this game very much resembles last weeks win over the Panthers.
Final: CLE by 3. (J3-0, M2-1). Jake tried to throw the game to the Dolphins but they dropped the late pick. Instead it was Henne handing it to the Brownies. Those early season losses killed what could have been an exciting season. (And no TDs for Hillis.)

Jacksonville +10 at Tennessee
Mike: JAX. The point spread is ridiculous. The Jags aren't that bad (wins are wins, Joe) and the Titans aren't that good. Kerry Collins isn't 100% so they're just one smack away from Rusty.
Joe: TEN. Only because I read your post and I'm going with 'wins aren't wins.'
Final: JAX by 11. (J3-1, M3-1). Big brother is right again. Wins are wins.

Denver +9 at Kansas City
Mike: DEN. The Broncos have been blown out more than I can count... but today they'll score enough to make it a reasonable loss.
Joe: KC. The Haley-McDaniels-Finger-Gate (always wanted to say that, never thought I would) will be resolved today in a big KC win as they push for the playoffs. Cassel a shocking MVP candidate.
Final: KC by 4. (J3-2, M4-1). Coach McDaniels should have kicked Haley in the groin instead of accepting that postgame hug.

Washington +7 at NY Giants
Mike: NYG. I changed my mind on this pick. The Redskins will be huddling around the heaters.
Joe: Was. Maybe this week the Giants will show who they are, one way or another.
Final: NYG by 24. (J3-3, M5-1). At least we're not Panther fans, Bengal fans or Redskin fans.

Chicago -4.5 at Detroit
Mike: CHI. Could be an upset but the Bear defense has been strong and Joe's least favorite quarterback will have a strong performance against a pitiful Detroit defense.
Joe: CHI. I finally believe Chicago is good. Uhlacher should be an MVP candidate if they make the playoffs.
Final: CHI by 4. (J3-4, M5-2). Let me add, "at least we're not Lion fans" to that list.

San Francisco +9.5 at Green Bay
Mike: GB. The 49ers are still a year away. The west coast team won't play well on the frozen tundra.
Joe: GB. Resounding win for the home team. Aaron Rodgers is an MVP candidate.
Final: GB by 18. (J4-4, M6-2). The 1929 Packers could have played the 4th qtr and still held off the hapless Niners.

New Orleans -6.5 at Cincinnati
Mike: CIN. New Orleans squeaks out a comeback win.
Joe: NO. And NO to your pick as well.
Final: NO by 4. (J4-5, M7-2). My short but sweet prediction couldn't have been more true.

Atlanta -3 at Tampa Bay
Mike: ATL. The Buccaneers have maxxed out.
Joe: TB. Believe in Josh Freeman.
Final: ATL by 4. (J4-6, M8-2). Josh Freeman has maxxed out.

Oakland +12.5 at San Diego
Mike: OAK. Hard to resist all those points. The Chargers have been improved, yes, but let's not forget Jason Campbell's hot streak earlier this season.
Joe: SD. Something like 42-20 here. Oakland has again become Oakland.
Final: OAK by 15. (J4-7, M9-2). Oakland is who we didn't think they were.

Carolina +6 at Seattle
Mike: SEA. It's tough for an east coast team to play well on the west coast, and vice versa.
Joe: SEA. Carolina can't beat the Browns or anyone else.
Final: SEA by 17. (J5-7, M10-2). Panthers started strong then turned into the Panthers.

Dallas +5 at Indianapolis
Mike: DAL. Cowboys have been playing better. Peyton is out of weapons.
Joe: IND. I'll still take Peyton at home.
Final: DAL by 3. (J5-8, M11-2). What's going on with Peyton? He threw as many TD passes to Cowboy defenders as his own receivers.

St Louis -3 at Arizona
Mike: STL. How can you not believe in Bradford?
Joe: STL. This pick is so much disbelief in DA.
Final: STL by 13. (J6-8, M12-2). DA might actually play better *with* a concussion...

Pittsburgh +3 at Baltimore
Mike: BAL. There are no winners in this game.
Joe: BAL. The winners are the kids who get more charity money from Harrison.
Final: PIT by 3. (J6-9, M12-3). At least there were injuries.

Monday Night Football
NY Jets +3 at New England
Mike: NE. Tough to pick against the Jets. Coach Bill is ready for some football.
Joe: NE. Its tough to ever pick the Jets. They are in for a harsh MNF reality.
Final: NE by a million. (J7-9, M13-3) The most amazing week of picking in Krukster history. Thank you. Thank you very much.

Updated Standings:
Joe: 97-90 (.519)
Mike: 100-87 (.535)

Cliff Lee contract predictions

Here is what Joe and I predicted back in October.

Mike: There's a story on Forbes.com about Cliff Lee getting $200 Million over six years.
Joe: i don't think he will get that long of a deal
Joe: he's too old for 6 yrs
Mike: I bet he gets 6
Joe: i heard someone say 3 yrs / 75 mil
Mike: 6/120M
Joe: if someone does that, then its the yankees
Joe: so yeah it will happen
Mike: yep
Joe: but realistically he should get 3-4 yrs at most
Joe: i will guess 5/110
Joe: so we can check up on that in a couple months
Mike: Should post it to Krukster so it's there forever

Week 12 Picks

Standings through Week 11
Joe - 81-74
MM - 79-76

This 2010 Thanksgiving let's remember what's important. My birthday. Its the big 2-9 so I guess I really have to make this year count. Not that all mine haven't counted, I mean, come on. This last decade, spent mostly in college, is FILLED with memories I can't remember. And I plan on carrying that through this upcoming adventure/year. So Happy Birthday to me and let the picks continue to suck.

New England -6.5 @ Detroit
Joe: Det. Give thanks for Shaun Hill. Hope the Lions don't get the STUFFING beat out of them. New England is full of TURKEYS that could make this game SWEET POTATOES. PUMPKIN PIE, incidentally a recent study has shown Pumpkin Pie is the most arousing smell for men. That shouldn't make Thanksgiving that awkward. Maybe Tiger should have used that excuse last year...
MM: NE.
Final: NE by a lot. (J0-1, M1-0)

New Orleans -4 @ Dallas
Joe: Dal. I give thanks for Jon Kitna. He proves we don't need that 'H' in JoHn. What a waste. Some people still think Dallas can win out and make the playoffs, of course they are higher than Michael Irvin in a hotel room with a hooker. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
MM: NO.
Final: NO by 3. (J1-1, M1-1)

Cincinnati +9 @ NY Jets
Joe: Cin. There is always a blowout on Thanksgiving and this will be it. Only Carson Palmer turns into Joe Montana when the Bengals get down by 21. So expect the score to go from 24-3 to a 31-24 final for the Jets.
MM: NYJ.
Final: NYJ by 16. (J1-2, M2-1)

Minnesota +1 @ Washington
Joe: Min. Its the curious case of the interim coach syndrome hypothesis.
MM: WASH. Whose team mascot is more racist? The Washington Redskins or the Cleveland Indians. These two teams obviously have the most racist mascots but which one is worse? The Redskins have the racist name but an honorable logo. The Indians have a plausible yet strangely embraced team name yet the logo is embarrasingly racist. The solution for each team? Change your team name. It's time. Keep the colors but change the name. The fans will learn to like it and merchandising will send profits soaring.
Final: MIN by 4. (J2-2, M2-2)

Pittsburgh -6.5 @ Buffalo
Joe: Buf. Why not??? Pittsburgh plays down to the Bills level in this one and Big Ben is distracted by all the hot chicks that fill the stands in Buffalo.
MM: BUF. The Bills always seem to try so darned hard.
Final: PIT by 3. (J3-2, M3-2)

Tennessee +6 @ Houston
Joe: Hou. Houston will climb back to 8-8 this season somehow. Best and worst 8-8 team the last few years.
MM: HOU. The Titans are a mess. And they're starting Rusty Smith. Do you really want a quarterback named Rusty? Wouldn't you rather have a brother Sharpe?
Final: HOU in a shutout. (J4-2, M4-2)

Jacksonville +7 @ NY Giants
Joe: Jax. Dunno about this one. Can't figure out either team. I could see any result in this game and not be surprised, well, unless Todd Bauman has to play.
MM: JAX. I usually bet against Jacksonville, Jinx's favorite team, and I'm usually wrong.
Final: NYG by 4. (J5-2, M5-2)

Carolina +9.5 @ Cleveland
Joe: Cle. That's a ton of points for the Brownies especially with Delhomme back in the saddle again (R'n'R HOF reference). Hopefully his high ankle doesn't effect his noodle arm. Peyton Hillis is going to have a big day.
MM: CLE. If they can beat the Saints and Patriots by 20... We can't say we're happy with the Browns season since they're out of the playoff hunt. But they've outperformed many expectations by being competitive every game this year and that bodes well for next year.
Final: CLE by 1. (J5-3, M5-3). My instinct was that the Browns would be playing in a nailbiter, not a blowout, but I chose according to peer pressure and cost myself a point.

Green Bay +1.5 @ Atlanta
Joe: Atl. Once someone beats Atlanta at home I will pick against them. Not yet.
MM: GB. The Packers have been strong lately while the Falcons are flatlining.
Final: ATL by 3. (J6-3, M5-4)

Philadelphia -3 @ Chicago
Joe: Phi. Chicago kinda scares me but Vick scares me more. Good battle between these surprisingly playoff bound teams.
MM: CHI. I'm valuing Soldier Field as worth even more than a field goal. I think the outdoor conditions will help the Bear defense to keep Mike Vick in check.
Final: CHI by 5. (J6-4, M6-4)

Tampa Bay +8 @ Baltimore
Joe: Bal. TB has not done well against upper level teams. This will not go well either.
MM: TB. Their head coach has the team believing in themselves. After hearing Raheem on Mike and Mike, he had me believing in them as well. I think they keep it close.
Final: BAL by 7. (J6-5, M7-4).

Miami -even- @ Oakland
Joe: Oak. Any relation to Don Majkowski?
MM: OAK. The Raiders are the fun pick this season. And today they go with Bruce Gradkowski, no relation to Steve Bartkowski.
Final: MIA big. (J6-6, M7-5). Third cousin to Ron Jaworski.

Kansas City +2.5 @ Seattle
Joe: KC. KC continues its playoff push. Cassel has been surprisingly good this year.
MM: SEA. Not sure how they do it but the Seahawks have been playing strong.
Final: KC big. (J7-6, M7-6)

St Louis +4 @ Denver
Joe: StL. McDaniels will not get the win and will be one step closer to fired.
MM: DEN. Coach McDaniels needs a win in a big way.
Final: STL by 3. (J8-6, M7-7)

San Diego +2.5 @ Indianapolis
Joe: SD. My new trend starting tonight, take Rivers with points. And when he has his top 2 WRs back. Vincent Jackson will make a difference.
MM: IND. The Colts are needing wins to preserve their playoff chances.
Final: SD wins big. (J9-6, M7-8)

San Francisco -1 @ Arizona
Joe: DA, I mean, Ari. DA has a HUGE game in prime time. 49ers keep falling.
MM: SF. Anybody else and I'd pick against the 49ers.
Final: SF big. (J9-7, M8-8)

Week 11 Picks

2010 Standings through Week 10
Joe - 74-65
Mike - 69-70

Week 11 Picks

Thursday Night Game:
Chicago +1.5 @ Miami
Mike: Chicago. Jay Cutler, love 'em or hate 'em (does anybody outside his own mother love him?), he has helped lead the Bears to a 7-3 record. Even ugly wins count. They win ugly again tonight.
Joe: Miami. Apparently Tyler Thigpen isn't all I thought he was. Brandon Marshall getting hurt doesn't help. Thanks a lot guys. Miami is 1-4 at home, must be from the great fan support in this great sports town.
Final - Chicago 16-0 (J0-1, M1-0)

Oakland +7 @ Pittsburgh
Mike: PIT. I'm really (x4) hoping for the upset but it's not going to happen.
Joe: Oak. I'm really really really really hoping for an upset here. I think it might happen.
Final: PIT big. (J0-2, M2-0)

Houston +6.5 @ NY Jets
Mike: HOU. Jets have had back to back OT games which has to be wearing on them.
Joe: Hou. Its time for one of those Jets lucky wins to turn into a loss.
Final: NYJ by 3. (J1-2, M3-0)

Baltimore -13 @ Carolina
Mike: BAL. The Ravens are capable of a lopsided win. This will be that time.
Joe: Bal. At least I'm not a Carolina fan. Will it be the LA Panthers soon??
Final: BAL by 24. (J2-2, M4-0)

Washington +7 @ Tennessee
Mike: TEN. The Redskins are a mess and only getting worse.
Joe: Ten. I'm counting on the Washington team that showed up last week to play again this week. Also counting on Moss to show up, maybe 3 catches this week??
Final: WAS by 3. (J2-3, M4-1)

Detroit +6 @ Dallas
Mike: DAL. The Cowboys aren't as bad as their record so I see a big win here.
Joe: Dal. With Wade out the sky's the limit for the Cowboys. I see a close game in the 30s here.
Final: DAL by 16. (J3-3, M5-1)

Green Bay -3 @ Minnesota
Mike: MIN. This is a tough game to pick. Going with the home team.
Joe: Min. I still believe in magic. Peterson's magic. And Sydney Rice is back so there it is. A Vikings win.
Final: GB big. (J3-4, M5-2)

Buffalo +4.5 @ Cincinnati
Mike: CIN. Ryan Fitzpatrick really needs to shave that goat beard of his.
Joe: Cin. Ochocinco celebrates his engagement with his best performance of the year. Carson Palmer keeps it close with a couple INTs but Cincy pulls away late.
Final: BUF big. (J3-5, M5-3). We're both dumb.

Cleveland +2.5 @ Jacksonville
Mike: CLE. The Browns? To win? Believe it.
Joe: Cle. Tough game for the Browns with Cribbs out but I think they let the Colt a little more loose this time out against a terrible Jags D. Expect lots of scores and a Browns win.
Final: JAX by 4. (J3-6, M5-4)

Arizona +7 @ KC
Mike: KC. It's amazing to me how Kurt Warner transformed the Cards into a Super Bowl team.
Joe: KC. This is the week KC proves its a playoff team and Arizona proves they should have given up this season when Warner retired. They could also use Leinert right about now.
Final: KC big. (J4-6, M6-4)

Seattle +11.5 @ NO
Mike: SEA. Pretty sure the Saints can handle the Seahawks but this is too many points to give. Saints are getting Reggie back just in time.
Joe: NO. With Bush back New Orleans is back as a Super Bowl contender. Watch Colston's numbers go up as well.
Final: NO by 15. (J5-6, M6-5)

Atlanta -3.5 @ St Louis
Mike: ATL. I like Sam Bradford and think he'll turn around the franchise much like Matt Ryan has done for the Falcons.
Joe: StL. The Rams have been pretty good at home and I think the week off will show some rust on the Falcons. The Rams jump out early but allow the Falcons to come back and win late.
Final: ATL by 17. (J5-7, M7-5)

Tampa Bay +3.5 @ San Fran
Mike: TB. I don't know how the Bucs have been so successful so I'm going with them instead of my instincts here.
Joe: SF. The 49ers really found something in Troy Smith. He makes the difference in this win over the Bucs.
Final: TB big. (J5-8, M8-5)

Indianapolis +4 @ New England
Mike: NE. This will be a great game to watch. It's fun to watch these offenses.
Joe: Ind. Give me Peyton Manning and points.
Final: NE by 3. (J6-8, M8-6). The points were enough.

New York Giants +3.5 @ Philadelphia
Mike: PHI. How could anybody bet against Mike Vick? He's the hottest thing in football since, well, Michael Vick.
Joe: Phi. I believe in Mike Vick. Last week was amazing and this week will be pretty good too.
Final: Phi by 10. (J7-8, M9-6)Lots of Manning face yesterday.

Denver +9.5 @ San Diego
Mike: SD. Who was it that destroyed the Broncos in Denver?
Joe: Den. Denver has enough offense to cover but not enough to make it feel like they can win.
Final: SD by 21. (J7-9, M10-6) Phil Rivers is the MVP so far.

Week 10 Picks

Standings through Week 9
Joe: 68-57 (.544)
Mike: 63-62 (.504)

Baltimore +1 at Atlanta
Mike: ATL. This makes it even easier to root against the Turkey Vultures.
Joe: ATL. Its the first Thursday night game of the season which means one thing, hours and hours of coverage. Sure its a pretty good matchup but there really isn't anything worth discussing for that long. Two things I have noticed so far, Herm Edwards hair turned really gray, really fast and the Dancing with the Stars set must be next door to NFL Network set judging how quickly Kurt Warner arrived after his dismissal as a dancer. I'm going with Atlanta tonight because Matt Ryan is my fantasy QB and because of the memory of Deion Sanders. I can really see any result taking place but I'm going against the AFC North team just to bring the Browns a little closer to the top.
Final - Atl by 5 (J1-0,M1-0)

Cin +7 at IND
Mike: IND.
Jim Caldwell: "Hey! Hello in there! Hey! What's so important? What you got here that's worth living for?"
The Colts: "T-o-b-l-a-v-e..."
The Bengals: "They distinctly said To Lose"
Jim Caldwell: "Liar! Liar! Playoffs! They distinctly said Playoffs!"
Joe: IND
Final - Ind by 6 (J1-1,M1-1) Who wants to coach the Bengals next year??? It won't be Marvin Lewis.

Hou +1.5 @ JAX
Mike: HOU. Garrard will return to being David Garrard.
Joe: HOU
Final - Jax by 7 (J1-2,M1-2) Holy Hail Mary, The Law of Gus strikes again. Even better than the final play was the call of the play.

Ten -1 at MIA
Mike: MIA. With Vince out, the Dolphins have a chance.
Joe: TEN
Final - Mia by 12 (J1-3,M2-2) Oh that's why no one wants Randy Moss.

MIN -1 at CHI
Mike: MIN. Favre still has something left in the tank for a final playoff push.
Joe: MIN.
Final - Chi by 14 (J1-4,M2-3) Correction, the tank is empty.

Det +3 at BUF
Mike: DET. This might be Buffalo's last chance at a win.
Joe: BUF.
Final - Buf by 2 (J1-5,M3-3) Last second TD blows my cover, thanks Bills for losing while winning.

NYJ -3 at CLE
Mike: NYJ. When I pick against the Browns, Cleveland wins. You really want me to start picking the Browns?
Joe: CLE
Final - NYJ by 6 (J1-6,M4-3) Last second TD by blown coverage, thanks Browns for losing when you should have won.

Car +7 at TB
Mike: CAR. I'm not a Jimmy Claussen fan but I think he'll help cover the spread here.
Joe: TB.
Final - TB by 15 (J2-6,M4-4) No one should be a Jimmy fan.

KC -1 @ DEN
Mike: KC. Rooting for Josh McDaniels to turn the team around so that the Browns can beat them in the AFC Championship in 2012.
Joe: DEN.
Final - Den by 20 (J3-6,M4-5) Todd Haley is an ass, tell your team to stop somebody.

StL +6 at SF
Mike: SF. In the battle of Troy Smith vs Sam Bradford, I'll go with the Buckeye.
Joe: SF.
Final - SF by 3 (J3-7,M4-6) SF probably will win the division at 7-9. Can we move the Browns out west??? Oh wait, too soon to say 'Browns' and 'move' in the same sentence.

Sea +3 at AZ
Mike: AZ. Matt Hasselbeck ends the abrupt Charlie Whitehurst era but it won't be enough to knock down a lights out Derek Anderson. Yes. Believe it.
Joe: AZ.
Final - Sea by 18 (J3-8,M4-7) Mike should be slapped for what he wrote in this pick.

Dal +13.5 at NYG
Mike: DAL. The running game will be back in focus as the Cowboys avoid embarrassment.
Joe: DAL.
Final - Dal by 13 (J4-8,M5-7) Guess we saw this one coming.

NE +4.5 @ PIT
Mike: PIT. The Patriots are down and out but need a big win. Aw, I gotta put on my bettor's hat and go with the home team. That hurts.
Joe: NE.
Final - NE by 13 (J5-8,M5-8) Let's go ahead and slap Mike again for picking Pittsburgh.

Phi -3 @ WASH
Mike: PHI. Donovan McNabb might get benched even sooner on Monday Night.
Joe: PHI.
Final - Phi by 31 (J6-8,M6-8) Let's take away the amazing 1st quarter and Philly still wins by 3. Vick had perhaps statistically the best QB performance in NFL history. Wrap your head around 20/28 333yds 4 TDs, 8 car 80 yds 2 TDs, and the prettiest 65 yards in the air on the money pass you might ever see. And McNabb played too.

Week 10 Standings
Joe - 74-65
Mike - 69-70

Sunday, November 7, 2010

Week 9 Picks

Current Standings:
Joe 59-54
Mike 58-55

Chicago -3 at Buffalo
Mike: BUF. Look, the Bills are worthless. Yes. But the Bears are struggling and this might be their only chance at a win this year. Give the Browns credit that they've improved over the likes of the Bills.
Joe:BUF. Maybe Martz' system would work in the CFL. Guess we'll find out this afternoon when they meet in Toronto. Bill win by at least 10.
Final: CHI by 3. (push) An early blocked extra point resulted in another Buffalo loss. Instead of moving the team, the entire city should relocate to Toronto.

San Diego -2.5 at Houston
Mike: HOU. The Chargers had their window of opportunity but it is fully closed. It'll be too late once Vincent Jackson returns and his heart won't be in it anyway.
Joe: HOU. I don't think SD should be favored on the road against anyone. Now Gates is out too which means lots of sad face from Rivers.
Final: SD by 6. (J0-1, M0-1). We saw the Rivers happy face instead with 4 TDs.

New Orleans -6.5 at Carolina
Mike: NO. The Saints are completely beat up, coming off a horrible loss to Cleveland and need a strong win to regain confidence. The Panthers are just what the witch doctor ordered.
Joe: NO. This will get ugly.
Final: NO by 31. (J1-1, M1-1). Kudos to us, oh wise prognosticators.

Arizona +8 at Minnesota
Mike: MIN. What a terrible game to call. If it's possible for both teams to lose, it would happen here. The Vikings are a tangled mess and going downhill quickly. This might be a confidence booster for Derek Anderson if he can pull out a big win on the road.
Joe: MIN. Again starting at QB for the Cards Derek Anderson.....
Final: MIN by 3. (J1-2, M1-2). I hope people remember Favre for what he did on the field. Today was a great comeback win by the 41 year old grandpa.

Tampa Bay +8.5 at Atlanta
Mike: ATL. I picked the Falcons to win the championship last year and they were strong but it was the Year of the Saint. This year, the Falcons are among the best teams in the NFC. Matt Ryan, if he continues to improve, is a perennial All Pro.
Joe: TB. The Bucs aren't the best team in the NFC but they are young and exciting. Look for Atlanta to win but not cover this way too huge line.
Final: ATL by 6. (J2-2, M1-3). Just like Joe said... Michael Turner with a big day.

NY Jets -4 at Detroit
Mike: NYJ. In the past, the Lions had terrible teams and terrible seasons. This year, it's a much improved team but they still find ways to lose. I wonder what's worse. Next year, with a little karma, the Lions turn into a playoff team.
Joe: DET. My feeling for the Jets are well known.
Final: NYJ by 3. (J3-2, M1-4). With 5 minutes left, the Lions were up 10 with the ball. The Lions continue to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory.

Miami +5 at Baltimore
Mike: BAL. Sure would be nice to see the Dolphins knock off an AFC North team. I'm changing my pick to BAL because asking the 'phins to win on the road in November is different than winning on the road in September.
Joe: BAL. At home off a bye Baltimore will dominate.
Final: BAL by 16. (J4-2, M2-4). The Dolphins fall two games behind the Patriots and Jets in the East.

New England -4 at Cleveland
Mike: NE. The Browns will hold close but the Pats will expand their lead in the second half. Browns are still two years away from truly competing each week. You threatened to take away my Browns rooting priviledges by continually picking against them each week but you'll never take away my Browns Backers card in my wallet. Unless, of course, you physically steal it from my wallet. It's not like I'm cynical towards the Browns or root against them. I'm realistic about the Browns, what they can and can not do. But they've turned the corner and will be a legitimate contender in the division next year. Seriously.
Joe: CLE. I'm not afraid to say Cleveland will cover again. Playing at home and inspired off the bye they will take an early lead but my crystal ball isn't telling me exactly what will happen late. Beware of Cribbs today.
Final: CLE by 20. (J5-2, M2-5). Don't act like you predicted this, Joe. These last two games have been unpredictable. Consecutive 20 point wins over the NFL's strongest teams? This is pleasantly insane and it's tough not to unravel just thinking about the early wins that Cleveland gave away.

NY Giants -7 at Seattle
Mike: NYG. Two words: Charlie Whitehurst. Seattle was playing above their seaheads but this change in quarterback won't help their chances.
Joe: NYG. The Whitehurst era begins today. And is over by halftime...
Final: NYG by 34. (J6-2, M3-5). This game was over quickly.

Kansas City +1 at Oakland
Mike: KC. Oakland has been on fire but the Chiefs running game provides the win.
Joe: OAK. KC isn't ready for primetime yet in the Black Hole.
Final: OAK by 3. (J7-2, M3-6) I'm not convinced either of these teams are that good. The Chargers are still going to win the division.

Indianapolis +3 at Philadelphia
Mike: PHI. It's tough to bet against Peyton but I like the Eagles in this home game.
Joe: IND. I don't go against Manning.
Final: PHI by 2. (J8-2, M3-7) It's wins like this for the NFC that allows Browns' fan to think they are still in the playoff race.

Dallas +7.5 at Green Bay
Mike: GB. It's just looking worse and worse for Texas' other football team.
Joe: GB. Almost feel bad for Dallas. Oh wait, nevermind....not at all.
Final: GB by 1000 and I think they just scored again. (J9-2, M4-7) I blame this game on Tony Romo. He didn't throw any touchdowns, what a loser.

Pittsburgh -4.5 at Cincinnati
Mike: PIT. Root for injuries.
Joe: CIN. I don't think Cincy will win or cover but for the sake of hating Pittsburgh, I'll take the Bungles.
Final: PIT by 6. (J9-3, M5-7). The T.Ocho Show has been cancelled.

New Standings:
Joe: 68-57 (.544)
Mike: 63-62 (.504)

Week 8 picks

DEN +1.5 @ SF
Mike: SF. So here we have two teams both desperate for a win, both from the Western United States and what does the NFL do? Ships them to London. For one of these teams, it'll be the longest, saddest flight home in the history of the NFL. I'm picking San Francisco since Troy Smith will be bringing a new element and energy to the field.
Joe: SF. I love everything about San Francisco.........
Final: SF by 8 (J1-0, M1-0). How about Heisman Trophy Winner Troy Smith? He just bought himself another start.

JAX +6.5 @ DAL
Mike: DAL. Is losing Tony Romo for the season the best thing that could have happened to the Cowboys? If you're a Dallas running back, that answer is Yes.
Joe: DAL. Powder blue makes me happy.
Final: JAX by 18. (J1-1, M1-1). The threat of Trent Edwards must have kicked David Garrard into gear.

WASH +2.5 @ DET
Mike: DET. Here's a line I don't understand. The 1-5 Lions are a favorite over the 4-3 Redskins. Records can be deceiving, I suppose. And I'm taking the bait. Lions win big.
Joe: DET. More powder blue.
Final: DET by 12. (J2-1, M2-1). You benched McNabb in the final two minutes? Coach Shanahan has some 'splainin' to do.

GB +6 @ NYJ
Mike: GB. No team is more over-rated than the other team from New Jersey.
Joe: NYJ. I looooove me some Jets.
Final: GB by 9. (J2-2, M3-1). Take heart, Rex, there's still the post-game buffet.

CAR +3 @ STL
Mike: STL. The Matt Moore era continues. Poorly. The Sam Bradford era continue. Wisely.
Joe: STL. The Rams might be the best team in the NFC...........
Final: STL by 10. (J3-2, M4-1). Steven Jackson's finally seeing the light at the end of a long, losing tunnel.

MIA +2 @ CIN
Mike: MIA. The AFC North is a division of the Haves and the Have Nots.
Joe: CIN. With Ochocinco and T.O., how can things go wrong??????
Final: MIA by 8. (J3-3, M5-1). The Bengals are the definition of disappointment.

BUF +7.5 @ KC
Mike: KC. Everybody beats on Buffalo.
Joe: KC. Chiefs might be the best team in the AFC.............
Final: KC by 3. (J3-4, M5-2). The Bills had their shot in OT and missed the chipshot.

TEN +3 @ SD
Mike: TEN. The Vincenator is back which is good news for the Chargers and my fantasy football team.
Joe: TEN. The Chargers are horrible........... Horrible...........
Final: SD by 8. (J3-5, M5-3). And Vince gets hurt. Again.

TB +3 @ AZ
Mike: TB. I can't think of a worse team that I like less than the Bucs. But the Cardinals might not win another game this year. Will Derek be back next week? I say yes.
Joe: TB. The Cardinals are horrible............ Horrible............
Final: TB by 3. (J4-5, M6-3). Where have I seen Derek Anderson throw a game losing interception before?

SEA +2.5 @ OAK
Mike: OAK. A huge win for Raider Nation last week. They keep it going with Cablevision in Seattle.
Joe: OAK. Al Davis is so old and scary that ghosts dress up like him for halloween...........
Final: OAK by 30. (J5-4, M7-3). What the heck is up with the Raiders? Wow!

MIN +5 @ NE
Mike: NE. It's the End of the World, as Brett Knows It.
Joe: NE. Speaking of halloween the patriots sure do like pumpkkins.............
Final: NE by 10. (J6-5, M8-3). Brett gets 8 stitches to the chin but I bet he's still back next week.

PIT +0 @ NO
Mike: PIT. Did the Saints sell their soul to the witch doctor last season? Or will the magic return on Sunday night in time to save the season? Not until Reggie is back...
Joe: NO. Its always halloween in the big easy...........
Final: NO by 10. (J7-5, M8-4) That'll teach me for changing my pick.

HOU +5.5 @ IND
Mike: IND. I don't usually care about the AFC South but this will be a fun, important game to watch.
Joe: IND.. Peyton Manning might be the best quarterback in that family
Final: IND by 13. (J8-5, M9-4). This was a no-brainer.

New Standings
Joe 59-54-4
Mike 58-55-4

Week 7 Picks

Its time to pick it up. The last two weeks were embarrassing. 7-18-3 calls for myself to look in the mirror and start taking this seriously. How can I not? This is for pride and honor.
This week will be different. I will pick correctly. And the Browns will win (or at least cover). I'm still going to pick them. Mike won't. I think only Isaac is with me on that one. And with that, let Week 7 begin.

Pittsburgh (-3) at Miami
Mike: PIT. The Steelers are going to sweep through this regular season but this will be the season that something disastrous destroys them in the playoffs. I'm hoping for Ben to be arrested during the coin toss. Or Hines Ward is sucked into a pit of quicksand.
Joe - MIA. Pittsburgh almost came out of my mouth as my pick but just in time I remembered how much I hate them. Somebody please spear Harrison today. That's all I really want.
FINAL: PIT by 1. (Joe 1, Mike 0). Well that figures. Whenever there's a lucky bounce, a lucky turnover or a lucky bad call, Pittsburgh is the beneficiary.

Cincinnati (+3.5) at Atlanta
Mike: ATL. This is more of a vote against Cincinnati. The Bengals are frauds. I don't know how they won the division last year or how they managed to string together those divisional wins before their loss to Cleveland. If the Cardinals had been playing the Bengals that fateful day in Dennis Green's past, he'd have declared postgame, "They weren't who we thought they were!"
Joe - ATL. To me, Carson Palmer is done. He can't make the throws anymore or Cincy would be undefeated. Atlanta is out to prove its the NFC's best team.
FINAL: ATL by 7. (J2 M1). The Bengals just don't seem like a team that's good enough to win.

Jacksonville (+9) at Kansas City
Mike: KC. Maybe if the Jags brought back Mark Brunell they'd have a chance.
Joe - KC. Todd Bauman is the QB for the Jags this week. Pretty sure he isn't good. At least no Matt Cassell. Its the season of dreams for the Chiefs.
FINAL: KC by 22. (J3 M2) The Jags were demolished, but holding his own was Todd Bauman. Which gives him one thing in common with Brett Favre.)

Philadelphia +3 at Tennessee
Mike: PHI. Andy Reid stumbled into a good problem to have: two quarterbacks better than what he had in Donovan McNabb.
Joe - TEN. I like them at home. I don't really have a reason. DeSean Jackson out is not good for the Eagles. They should start Vick, but they aren't.
FINAL: TEN by 18. (J4 M2). Kenny Britt went nuts with 5000 yards receiving and 72 touchdown, or at least so it seemed to the Average Joes fantasy football team.

Washington +3 at Chicago
Mike: WASH. This could be a really big win for the Redskins. The ship off Lake Michigan is sinking.
Joe - WASH. Not really sure why Chicago would be favored? Aren't they bad but lucky? They lost to Seattle at home last week. This week will be no different.
FINAL: WASH by 3. (J5, M3). This win continues Redskin fans' delusions of playoffs.

Cleveland +13.5 at New Orleans
Mike: NO. If the Browns have their best game and the Saints have their worst game, there's a chance -- a chance! -- that the Browns cover the spread. I have a bad feeling that Eric Wright is going to get picked on.
Joe - CLE. Again Colt McCoy will keep it close. Keep an eye out for Calton Mitchell this week. The Browns 6th round draft pick will break out in the next few weeks. He is their biggest, faster WR, it's just too bad he can't catch.
FINAL: CLE by 13. (J6, M3) What? Really? Amazing! Three of the Browns best plays of the year occured in the first half of this game. The defense played amazing and the successful fake punt from inside their own 30 was completely gutsy. This kind of win gives hope to even a pessimistic fan like me.

Buffalo +13 at Baltimore
Mike: BAL. The Bills are even worse than the Browns. Thank goodness for small favors.
Joe - BAL. I pity Buffalo today. Ray Lewis is going to put on a clinic of hard, legal tackles. Thinking right now, I have no idea who the Bills QB is... hmmmm, nothing. This won't be pretty.
FINAL: BAL by 3. (J6, M3). Ryan Fitzpatrick gave it a go...

San Francisco -3 at Carolina
Mike: SF. Now's the time to buy low on the 49ers. The Panthers are horrible.
Joe - SF. West Coast team going east usually isn't pretty but Carolina is that bad. SF is too talented to lose this game. But again Alex Smith sucks and SF doesn't blow them out.
FINAL: CAR by 3. (J6, M3). That's going to be a long flight back to the west coast.

St Louis +3 at Tampa Bay
Mike: TB. Coupled with KC, these are your surprise overachievers this season. I'll reluctantly go with the home team for this matchup.
Joe - STL. This will be the Rams first road win. TB is still reeling from the beatdown they received from the Saints last week.
FINAL: TB by 1. (J7, M3). How about them Chiefs. I support their run towards respectability.

Arizona +6 at Seattle
Mike: SEA. Oh, you silly Cardinals. You cut Matt Leinart in favor of Derek Anderson, then benched him and started an undrafted rookie Max Hall. And here I thought Pittsburgh churned out smart coaches.
Joe - SEA. Seattle at home is tough. Max Hall will not win on the road. Is Hasselbeck the Comeback Player of the Year? Ok, Vick is but Matt might be 2nd.
FINAL: SEA by 12 (J8, M4)

New England +2.5 at San Diego
Mike: SD. Do the Patriots have the whitest offense in the NFL since the 1970s?
Joe - NE. The Chargers are too banged up and the Pats are pulling it together. Norv Turner and his terrible special teams will fall to 2-5 and nearly out of the playoffs after another bad loss.
FINAL: NE by 3 (J9, M4)

Oakland +8.5 at Denver
Mike: OAK. We haven't seen much of Tebow and even less from Brady Quinn. Does this explain the Broncos success?
Joe - DEN. Still haven't figured out quite why the Broncos are so explosive. Is Orton that good? Would they be even better with an elite QB? Kinda scary. Anyway, the Raiders show who they really are in this one and stay out of the endzone.
FINAL: OAK by 45 (J9, M5)

Minnesota +2.5 at Green Bay
Mike: GB. As much grief as Brett Favre gets, it was the Packers draft choice of a falling Aaron Rodgers that precipitated all that followed. For the record, in that 2005 draft, Alex Smith went #1, the Browns took Braylon Edwards at #3. Imagine if the Browns trade down 10 spots and get Rodgers instead.
Joe - MIN. I'll take the healthier, more talented team in this one. Brett Favre at night is fun to watch [Ed note: hahahahah!] and they also have a good deep threat to challenge the depleted GB defense. And Peterson too, I hear he's good.
FINAL: GB by 4 (J9, M6)

NY Giants +3 at Dallas
Mike: NYG. It was nice knowing you, Wade.
Joe - NYG. I'm going to go ahead and make Dallas' season right here by picking against them. If I were to pick them they would be sure to blow this one but with this pick Jerry Jones will go home happy for once. Or does he live in that stadium? He should. I would. With the cheerleaders.
FINAL: NYG by 6. (J10, M7)

(As we roll into Week 7, our picks are pretty tight. Mike's at 42-44-4 while Joe stands at 41-45-4. The monkey, meanwhile, is one game up.)

Update: Week 7 Finals: Joe 10-4, Mike 7-7

New Standings

Week 6 Review

SD -8 STL
STL 20-17 St Louis does it again. At least Norv Turner isn't in Cleveland. (J)

HOU -4 KC
HOU 35-31 Its a push for us but KC blew this one. Terrible pass interference calls help too. That and Andre Johnson. (PUSH)

NE -3 BALT
NE 23-20 Speaking of blowing it, the Ratbirds blew a 13 point lead but really how could anyone stay focused with Tom Brady's hair blowing in the wind. Damn that Giselle. (PUSH)

NO -4 TB
NO 31-6 I'm glad the Saints got this out of their system before playing the Browns. Can Brees please throw to Colston once in the endzone??? Please help the Average Joe's win a game, dick. (M)

PHI -2.5 ATL
PHI 31-17 So Philly has 2 quality QBs, remember when the Browns thought they did too?? (XX)

NYG -10 DET
NYG 28-20 Somehow someway Detroit covered. No idea how but Drew Stanton kept them close and now I'm beginning to think I could throw bombs to Calvin Johnson. (M)

CHI -6.5 SEA
SEA 23-20 Chicago is becoming more and more who we thought they were. Seattle must be juiced up on caffeine. (M)

MIA EVEN GB
MIA 23-20 OK Green Bay, we get it. You're injured. Pull it together. I chose you for the SB. This sucks. (M)

PIT -13.5 CLE
PIT 28-10 I really thought the Browns were covering this one, then they had to taunt the Steelers with timeouts late in the game. Another TD pass from the inappropriate toucher and my cover is blown. And again Mike picks against the Browns. (M)

NYJ -3 DEN
NYJ 24-20 Horrible pass interference to end the game. I hate the Jets. (M)

SF -6.5 OAK
SF 17-9 The battle of the bay of terrible football. Alex Smith continues to succeed at sucking with great talent around him. Bring in David Carr!!! (J)

MIN -1.5 DAL
MIN 24-21 If I heard or saw 'Panic Bowl" one more time I might have panicked and picked Dallas. No one will ever win with Wade Phillips as their Head Coach. (J)

IND -3 WAS
IND 27-24 Peyton Manning always wins at night. Just usually by more. (PUSH)

TEN -3 JAX
TEN 30-3 Wow was this ever a turd bowl. And still outrated Yankees/Rangers. Baseball Sucks. (J&M)

Week 5 Review

MM Picks - Bal, Jax, Ind, StL, Atl, TB, Chi, GB, Hou, NO, SD, Dal, Phi, Min
Joe Picks - Bal, Buf, Ind, StL, Cle, Cin, Chi, GB, Hou, NO, SD, Dal, SF, Min

FAV / Underdog

BAL 7 Den
Baltimore 31 Denver 17
Orton kept up his Kurt Warner/Dan Marino yardage pace but it wasn't enough. Baltimore finally got its offense going without playing Cleveland and Ray Rice scored a couple TDs. At least Mike and I got 1 win this week. (BOTH)

BUF 1.5 Jax
Jacksonville 36 Buffalo 26
I really have no excuse for picking Buffalo to cover in this one. I blame seeing them score a TD before I sent my picks to Mike. See kids, cheating gets you nowhere. (MM)

IND 7 KanCity
Indianapolis 19 Kansas City 9
Nice late TD gets the spread covered in this one. Of course it wasn't my fantasy guy Addai, it was Mike Hart, which cost me a win vs Mike. Damn you Colts! (Both)

DET 3 StL
Detroit 44 St Louis 6
We both bought into the Rams being better than they are and the Lions being worse. See what happens when we think. Just flip a coin and pick. Doesn't help when your #1 WR busts up his knee early in the 1st, but still....yes, he was on my fantasy team too. (XX)

Atl 3 CLE
Atlanta 20 Cleveland 10
I was really feeling this one until Jake entered the game. If only Cleveland had a LT who could block. Maybe someday. I think I am still 5/5 in picking the Browns. This one hurt. (MM)

CIN 6.5 TB
Tampa Bay 24 Cincinnati 21
Wow, what happened to Carson Palmer?? Its almost like he could play for the Browns in a couple years. TB receives another gift win. I hate them now. (MM)

CAR 3 Chi
Chicago 23 Carolina 6
Todd Collins gets the W with a 6.2 rating and 4 INTs. Thank God he was playing Clausen (29.7 rtng, 1 INT) and Moore (18.8 rtng, 2 INTs). Finally a duo worse than Brady Quinn and DA. Oh, and how was Carolina favored??? (Both)

GB 2.5 WASH
Washington 16 Green Bay 13
Injuries, injuries, injuries, GB is in trouble. Somehow the Redskins are winning games, haven't quite figured it out yet. (XX)

HOU 3 NYG
New York 34 Houston 10
Apparently this is the point where we should stop picking games. It gets real ugly from here on out. Did not see this one coming. (XX)

NO 6.5 AZ
Arizona 30 New Orleans 20
Ok, this is the one I didn't see coming. Non-drafted free agent rookie 25 yr old from BYU Max Hall beats the defending Super Bowl champions after throwing an INT on his first pass attempt. Doesn't hurt when your D scores 3 TDs for you. (XX)

SD 6.5 OAK
Oakland 35 San Diego 27
OK, ok this is the one I didn't see coming, seriously. San Diego hadn't lost to the Raiders since 1975. Or since 2003 spanning 13 games. But this proves again this is the NFL where anyone can beat anyone on any given Sunday, except for the Browns. (XX)

DAL 7 Ten
Tennessee 34 Dallas 27
Sets up a great 1-3 match up this coming week between Dallas and Minnesota. Dallas is really letting everyone down, although I'm happy Miles Austin had a sweet game. (XX)

SAN FRAN 3 Philly
Philadelphia 27 San Francisco 24
I'm getting depressed. This is another L for Joe. Next week might be a 'flip a coin' week for me just so I have an excuse for being so bad. (MM)

NY JETS 4 Minny
New York 29 Minnesota 20
I quit. Words Favre should have learned a long time ago. No Dick Jokes Please... (XX)

Week 4 Review

First of all, I would like to thank the RedZone channel for allowing me to be able to review all of these game. Still might be my favorite channel ever.

Mike picks: Den, bal, cin, gb, no, atl, sea, nyj, ind, hou, az, phi, chi, ne.
Joe picks: Ten, Balt, Cle, det, NO, atl, StL, NYJ, IND, hou, SD, phi, chi, NE

At Tennessee -6.5 Denver
Den 26 Ten 20 - Kyle Orton has passed for the 2nd most yards in NFL history through the first 4 games. Only behind Kurt Warner. I don't know what happened here but I guess that stat means I need to start picking Denver. (Mike)

At Pittsburgh -2.5 Baltimore
Bal 17 Pit 14 - Only way this game could have been better is if they both would have lost. And more guys got injured. Say Hello to Big Ben in 2 weeks Browns. (Both)

Cincinnati -2 At Cleveland
Cle 23 Cin 20 - Of course the Browns won. Was there ever any doubt??? Yes, I had doubt but somehow, someway they pulled this one out. Oh, and I am beginning to love TJ Ward. And Mike you suck for picking against the Browns. (Joe)

At Green Bay -14.5 Detroit
GB 28 Det 26 - Detroit is friskily close to being good this year. It's kinda freaking me out. The Lions scored 4 FGs in the 2nd half, if they knew how to finish a drive they may have pulled the upset. Then again, if Shaun Hill is your QB you should be happy to be close. (Joe)

At New Orleans -12.5 Carolina
NO 16 Car 14 - No idea how this happened. Is Carolina's D actually good?? What's up with NO?? Can they please start throwing to Colston since Mike and I both own him in a fantasy league?? Too many questions, I'm starting to lose a little faith in the Saints this season. (Neither)

At Atlanta -7 San Francisco
Atl 16 SF 14 - So two wrongs do make a right for Atlanta. First a terrible, awful interception from Matt Ryan, followed by an even worse decision by Nate Clements to try to return the INT when if he touches the ground SF wins, leading to a great never-give-up play by Roddy White, only to be topped by Matt Ryan leading them back down the field to the game winning FG. Dang, I'm losing lots of faith in SF. (Neither)

Seattle -2 At St. Louis
StL 20 Sea 3 - Not too sure how StL is doing it but they are winning games. We need to put some money on them to win the division. They are still 9-1 odds. I don't know what that means but I think they are going to win this historically bad division. (Joe)

NY Jets -5.5 At Buffalo
NYJ 38 Buf 14 - Buffalo is the worst team in the NFL. Jets are pretty good. I still hate the Jets. (Both)

Indianapolis -7 At Jacksonville
Jax 31 Ind 28 - First Jacksonville leaves too much time for Manning, then he is too good and leaves too much time for Garrard. Actually, all that time was still left because of Caldwell calling a TO after a short gain for Jax. I realize you want to give Manning the ball back but COME'ON MAN!!!! (Neither)

Houston -3.5 At Oakland
Hou 31 Oak 24 - Not too much to say about this one. Andre Johnson was out so I really didn't care to much about it. (Both)

At San Diego -9.5 Arizona
SD 41 Ari 10 - And another DA era has come to an abrupt end. Thank God. Apparently the film department has been shut down for the Cards to think that DA was going to be good. Just terrible. Poor Fitzgerald. (Joe)

At Philadelphia -5 Washington
Was 17 Phi 12 - Maybe Kolb isn't so good. I really hated to see Vick get injured, like he has ever hurt anyone. (Neither)

At NY Giants -3.5 Chicago
NYG 17 Chi 3 - I think I had a sack on Cutler in the 1st half. That was embarrassing. So embarrassing I didn't watch the game. (Neither)

New England -1 At Miami
NE 41 Mia 14 - So much for Miami taking that big step forward. NE became the first team in NFL history to have a rush TD, pass TD, KO return TD, INT TD, and a block kick TD. Usually you will win if you get that combo.

There you have it 4 weeks in the books. I'm starting to pull away. Time to pick it up Michael.

Week 1 - Joe 9-6-1 MM 8-7-1
Week 2 - Joe 9-7 MM 6-10
Week 3 - Joe 8-8 MM 9-7
Week 4 - Joe 8-6 MM 5-9

Week 3 Picks

Well since my morning was derailed by attempting to assemble a charcoal grill these picks will have to be cut short as well. I know, everyone stop crying. Things will get better.

NY GIANTS 3 Tennessee
Mike: NYG. Vince Young is a mystery, wrapped in an enigmy and vastly underperforming on my fantasy team. The Titans will lose then immediately trade for Washington's Albert Haynesworth, so the Redskins hope.
Joe: TEN. CJ2K finally breaks loose for 200 for the first time this year. Won't be the last time.
Final: TEN 29-10 (Joe)

NEW ENGLAND 14 Buffalo
Mike: BUF. If there's any city in America that outCleveland's Cleveland, it might be Buffalo. It'll be a shame when they lose their team.
Joe: NE. There aren't enough points for me to pick the Bills. They have scored 17 total this year. NE by 30+.
Final: NE 38-30 (Mike)

BALTIMORE 10½ Cleveland
Mike: CLE. Let's be real. The Browns needed to win the first two games of the season to have a chance this year. They stand at 0-2, two losses by a combined five points and now the tough part of the schedule is here. With all the players out for this game and out for the year, the only chance the Browns have is that Joe Flacco has a horrible game. I'll cling to that hope.
Joe: CLE. As always, I pick the Browns. In the first two weeks they have received ZERO breaks. This is the game that they get those breaks and the Browns keep it close. Or they lose by 40.
Final: BAL 24-17 (M/J)

Pittsburgh 2½ TAMPA BAY
Mike: PIT. The Buccaneers are the worst 2-0 team in the NFL. Hold your tongue and say out loud: I was born on a pirate ship.
Joe: TB. I don't like the Steelers.
Final: PITT 38-13 (M/J)

Cincinnati 3 CAROLINA
Mike: CIN. The Bengals have done nothing to deserve respect but this will rectify that. Yes, rectify.
Joe: CIN. Rookie QB will not do well. Cincy by a lot.
Final: CIN 20-7 (M/J)

NEW ORLEANS 4 Atlanta
Mike: NO. The Saints lose some electric with Reggie out but they still have enough pieces in place to hold off win the division.
Joe: ATL. Matty Ice has a big game with Darren Sharper still out for NO.
Final: ATL 27-24 (J)

San Francisco 2½ KANSAS CITY
Mike: KC. Pretty soon, Singletary's going to strap on a helmet. Thing is, it would probably help.
Joe: SF. Can't see any other outcome happening.
Final: KC 31-10 (M)

MINNESOTA 10½ Detroit
Mike: DET. This is my guaranteed win. Take the Lions and the points. Then sit back and watch the hapless Lions screw themselves out of another win.
Joe: DET. They will cover and they might win. Favre doesn't want to play anymore.
Final: MIN 24-10 (XX)

HOUSTON 3 Dallas
Mike: HOU. I must be dreaming... The Cowboys start 0-3? I bet they wish they had Cleveland on their schedule.
Joe: HOU. Texans keep rollin, Cowboys roll over.
Final: DAAL 27-13 (XX)

Washington 3½ ST LOUIS
Mike: WAS. Correction: Albert Haynesworth is not Mike Shanahan's slave. Owner Dan Snyder spends the money, but his team is a mess and the fans hate him.
Joe: STL. Washington isn't that good and the Rams aren't that bad.
Final: STL 30-16 (J)

Philadelphia 3 JACKSONVILLE
Mike: PHI. We're witnessing the comeback of Michael Vick, future NFL Comeback Player of the Year. How did we not fantasy draft him? We're idiots.
Joe: PHI. Not gonna make a Mike Vick joke here but I believe he will be unleashed in this game and lift his leg all over the Jags.
Final: PHI 28-3 (M/J)

Indianapolis 5½ DENVER
Mike: IND. So long as Peyton is the quarterback of the Colts, I doubt I'll ever pick him to lose. Unless, of course, they're playing the Browns.
Joe: IND. Still can't root for Denver and there is that other QB for the Colts that is pretty good.
Final: IND 27-13 (M/J)

ARIZONA 4 Oakland
Mike: OAK. So long as Derek is the quarterback of the Cardinals, I doubt I'll ever pick them to win ever again. Unless, of course, he's playing the Browns.
Joe: OAK. Still can't pick a team that chose DA in a QB competition. Just Stupid.
Final: AZ 24-23 (M/J)

San Diego 5½ SEATTLE
Mike: SD. The Battle of the West, which means very little to those of us in the East.
Joe: SD. Seattle better enjoy that Week 1 win for a while.
Final: SEA 27-20 (XX)

MIAMI 2 NY Jets
Mike: NYJ. Oh, those rascally Dolphins with the trick formations. The Jets begin to right the ship starting with a lopsided win.
Joe: MIA. Miami will make the playoffs. The Jets not so much.
Final: NYJ 31-23 (M)

Green Bay 3 CHICAGO
Mike: CHI. Der Bears.
Joe: GB. Chicago gets a wake up call this week after a 2-0 start. Rodgers for 250 and 3 TDs.\
Final:

Week 2 Picks

Standings:
Joe 9-6-1
Mike 8-7-1

We were tied heading into Monday Nights 2nd Game and Mike stupidly picked SD and Norv Turner. So here we go. WEEK 2. WWWHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

CLEVELAND 3 Kansas City
Mike: KC. Name the last time the Browns won a home opener. Exactly. Browns will stay close as they always do but will give up a big play in the end to blow it. Seneca Wallace gives the Browns new hope in the same way that every other backup quarterback has for the Browns. But Wallace has been a career backup for a reason.
Joe: CLE. Of course I'm taking Cleveland. Weis and Cromeo on the same sideline once again, seems like a worse idea than updating and rerunning Hawaii 5-0. Seneca Wallace era begins today.
Final: KC 16-14 (Mike) Cleveland should have won and gave it away. Again. Ten of KC's points were off of turnovers. Terrible.

GREEN BAY 13 Buffalo
Joe: GB. Today we find out if GB can take of business when they should. Also first look at Brandon Jackson as GB's feature back. He was gone off the waiver wire as fast as Mike's morals are gone after half a beer.
Mike: BUF. Two touchdowns is a lot of points to give. PS: Morals are my favorite mushroom.
Final: GB 34-7 (Joe) Mike was on Mushrooms if he thought Buffalo was gonna cover.

Baltimore 2½ CINCINNATI
Mike: BAL. Talk about an overrated team. The Bengals live to disappoint. What's the over-under on the number of weeks until they implode? Or have they already imploded?
Joe: CIN. I really don't think Cincy will cover or win but I can't pick the Ravens. I Hate them, I guess not as much as the Jets in week 1 or the Steelers ever. So anyway I don't really care what you think and I obviously don't care what I think so if you follow that logic be prepared for some more great picks.
Final: CIN 15-10. (Joe) Well, maybe this is Joe's week to get some separation. Suck it Baltimore.

TENNESSEE 5½ Pittsburgh

Mike: PIT. As much as I hate the Steelers and their fans, they rarely lose by more than five.
Joe: TEN. See previous paragraph, except I think TEN will win outright and dominate the team that sucks over in the state to the east.
Final: PIT 19-11. (Mike) Pittsburgh tried to give it away. Sorry Vince Young. Maybe you and Pac Man need to visit a local adult establishment tonight and get your heads straight.

Philadelphia 6½ DETROIT

Mike: PHI. Vick's gonna go crazy.
Joe: DET. OK so there are 2 teams that suck from that state. The Eagles lost their Center & Fullback for the season and their QB for at least this week. Not good to lose the center of your offense and then start 0-2. Goodbye, Andy Reid.
Final: PHI 35-32. (Joe) Detroit w an amazing comeback to cover. HAHAHAHAHAH. Vick did go F'ing crazy. What's up with that guy? Joe predicts he is traded before Week 6 to some team with a hurt starter. Seriously. Vick will lead a playoff run.

DALLAS 7 Chicago

Mike: DAL. The Bears won a game they shouldn't and the Cowboys lost a game they should have won. The world corrects itself this week.
Joe: DAL. Dallas covers in their home opener. Its a high scoring game and Chicago stays close through the first half. Then Miles Austin breaks loose.
Final: CHI 27-20 (XX). The Wade Phillips watch is on. That guy sucks at coaching.

CAROLINA 3 Tampa Bay

Joe: CAR. TB is still the worst team in the league, by far. They will lose 15 straight. I hate them now too, they are dead to me. Plus, I don't want to cheer on my football team from a Pirate ship. I want to save that fantasy of being on a Pirate ship for something cooler. Like when I invade Cuba, for cigars.
Mike: TB. Yes, the Bucs start 2-0 but still won't finish .500.
Final: TB 20-7 (Mike) Amazing. Great pick Mike. I'm bitter, this was stupid.

ATLANTA 6½ Arizona

Mike: AZ. This might be my stupidest pick. I think DA will have a nice game, raising hopes, only to shatter them down the road.
Joe: ATL. DA, that's all. My only reason. On a fantasy note, I'm leaving Matt Ryan in over VY for this week. If he fails against ARI after last weeks crapfest in PITT. Say hello to the VY era in Average Joe land.
Final ATL 41-7 (Joe) Ouch Arizona. Kinda wishing you had Leinert right now?

MINNESOTA 5½ Miami
Mike: MIA. This won't be a season to remember in Minnesota.
Joe: MIN. I'm really doubting this pick but here is the game I want to see: Min scores first possession on sweet AP run, Miami then goes up 20-7, before Brett Favre comes out of retirement (the first half) and leads an amazing last second comeback. Just one more time Brett, just one more time....
Final MIA 14-10 (Mike) Uh oh. Time for Childress to start planning for retirement. Wonder if anyone on his team has been through that before.

OAKLAND 3½ ST Louis
Mike: OAK. Bradford will win a few at home but he'll have trouble in Oakland.
Joe: STL. Why not??? This may be a bigger dumpster fire than CLE vs TB. This game doesn't even deserve the RedZone Channel. Again, the greatest channel ever invented. LOVE IT. Speaking of TV, I'm wondering how there isn't a Hooter's Reality show. Just think about it, how is this possible?? You read it here first, just wait.
Final OAK 16-14 (Joe) Jason Campbell is so bad that Bruce Gradkowski had to take over.

DENVER 3 Seattle
Mike: SEA. That big win last week and the Seahawks are underdogs? I'll take those points.
Joe: SEA. Denver is another team I can't pick. Remember those 2 plays that will live in infamy?? Well, I don't because I have blocked them out of my memory but I still remember I hate the Broncos.
Final: DEN 31-14 (XX) We are horrible at picking games. Knowshon would not be stopped.

Houston 2½ WASHINGTON
Mike: HOU. The Redskins got lucky last week but will be flat out blown out today.
Joe: HOU. Houston is coming out strong this year. Exciting team to watch. Sorry, I am real distracted right now, just had Favre/Wrangler commercial, followed by Madden Commercial, followed by Ray Lewis Commercial. Best three commercial stretch in years.
Final: HOU 30-27. (Both) Freezing the kicker with a timeout is either the best or worst rule in football. This time it worked for the Texans.

SAN DIEGO 7 Jacksonville
Mike: JAX. The Chargers are sinking while the Jags ... well, they suck too but Garrard will keep it close.
Joe: SD. Jacksonville might lose by 30 but hopefully MJD still dominates for my fantasy team.
Final SD 38-13. (Joe) Mike is a total idiot for picking AZ and JAX in the same week. This is getting ugly.

New England 3 NY JETS
Mike: NE. Few things are more enjoyable than watching the NYJets lose.
Joe: NE. Hate the Jets.
Final: NYJ 28-14 (XX). Rex Ryan gets the last laugh and his neck fat is still rolling.

INDIANAPOLIS 5 NY Giants
Mike: IND. Peyton gets the Colts back on track with a big home win over whiny little brother.
Joe: IND. Older brother beats little brother. At least its that way in the Manning family. Mike never got that memo.
Final: IND 38-14. (Both)

New Orleans 5½ SAN FRANCISCO
Mike: NO. Singletary's going to suffer a popped vein before the bye week.
Joe: SF. If SF can't get up for this game and pull something off, then they aren't the team we thought they were.
Final: NO 25-22 (Joe)

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Joe's Week 1 Picks

Carolina +6 @ NYGiants
NYG. The G men open the new stadium in style. Manning does not cut open his forehead again but he does slice up the Carolina D.

Miami -3 @ Buffalo
MIA. This line should be way higher. Insert Ricky joke here.

Atlanta -1 @ Pittsburgh
ATL. Upset special. Or is it?? What does Dennis Dixon do? Its Matty Ice's game to lose.

Detroit + 6.5 @ Chicago
DET. Detroit keeps it close but Chicago pulls it out in the end.

Cincinnati +5 @ New England
CIN. High scoring and entertaining. Hopefully a few shots of Brady's wife. But NE doesn't have enough defense to hold up in the end.

Cleveland +3 @ Tampa Bay
CLE. Cleveland should be favored. Seriously. TB sucks.

Denver +3 @ Jacksonville
DEN. Tebow's homecoming will be successful. He will score not 1 but 2 TDs in a great start to his NFL career.

Indianapolis -1 @ Houston
HOU. Houston breaks out this year and wins the AFC South and it starts in Week 1 with a confidence building win.

Oakland +6 @ Tennessee
TEN. This is the year VY figures it out. Hopefully, at least if you are a Titans fan. But then again you still have CJ. They are just initials to me.

Green Bay -3 @ Philadelphia
GB. The Pack may win the Super Bowl this year.

San Fran -3 @ Seattle
SF. Seattle is pretty bad and San Fran will be in the playoffs this year. Not a good combo for the Pacific NW today. Then again, Alex Smith is the 49ers QB.

Arizona -3.5 @ St Louis
STL. Super Upset Special. Arizona lost too much this offseason. DA is most likely not the answer. Just a guess.

Dallas -3.5 @ Washington
WAS. Everyone loves Dallas but what have they really done. NOTHING. Give me McNabb and Shanny over Romo and especially Wade Phillips any day.

Baltimore +2 @ NY Jets
BAL. Ray Lewis is pissed. That scares me. And for the first time so does the Ravens' offense.

San Diego -4.5 @ Kansas City
KC. I like KC as an up and coming team this season. They catch the slow starting Chargers off guard and sneak out a win late.

AFC Division Winners - NE, BALT, HOU, KC
AFC Wild Cards - IND, CLEVELAND BABY!!!!!! WOOOOOOOO
NFC Division Winners - WAS, GB, NO, SF
NFC Wild Cards - MIN, DAL

Super Bowl - Green Bay over Baltimore
